Party poppers are great fun at all kinds of different occasions. They can make the party sparkle at a wedding reception; they can make a birthday party go with a bang; and they can even bring in the New Year in style. But one thing you need to be aware of is the ages of the people who are around when you start firing them off.
Party poppers can be quite loud, especially if you have larger ones or even some party cannons to let off. This isn’t to say they shouldn’t be used – far from it. But it can pay dividends to make sure that any young children are standing or sitting at a distance when people start to let off their party poppers.
This is especially the case if your celebration is going to have a few young babes in arms around. Loud noises can startle some babies so it is wise not to let the party poppers off too close to where they are. The same applies to slightly older children – make sure you don’t surprise them too much!
Of course lots of children like to let off the party poppers themselves. If you are going to let them do this make sure you supervise them to ensure they do so safely. They should know they cannot let them off near other people, or aim them anywhere but in the air. These poppers are harmless if they are handled properly, but if care is not taken they can cause problems. If you must let children use them make sure they are always supervised to ensure there are no problems.
As such you should always ensure you do not let the party poppers lay around ready to be picked up by younger children. They may not even realise what they are, and this can lead to accidents if you aren’t careful.
It’s obvious that everyone wants to have a good time at any kind of get together or party. No one wants to spoil the mood by being overly watchful or concerned. But at the same time you must ensure that if you are the party host, your younger guests are safe from harm and just as able to enjoy the festivities as everyone else.
So don’t forget the safety aspect of using party poppers. A few simple rules will keep everyone safe and enjoying a long and successful party.
